Opening
All Year
After two years of total and refined restoration, the Grand Hotel et de Milan has once again raised the curtain on a "show" tha has starred the hotel as the protagonist of major events for 130 years
On Saturday March 23rd 1863, in the central "Corsia del Giardino", now Via Manzoni, the "Hotel Milano" was born. Tuesday December 14th 1993, after three years of accurate restoration keeping the old architectural charm, the Grand Hotel et de Milan was reborn.

The Hotel is located right in the centre of Milan on Via Manzoni, in the heart of the social and cultural life of the city. It is next to Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga, famous itineraries for Milan shopping. At a stone's throw are La Scala Theatre, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum and the Pinacoteca of Brera.

In the refurbished lounges of the Grand Hotel et de Milan still gather, as they did in the past, guests belonging to important Italian and foreign families, to the world of the arts, culture, cinema, sports, finance and fashion.

Amongst the personalities who have honoured the hotel with thei presence, the most noteworthy is Giuseppe Verdi.

From their "Libro d'Oro" (Golden Book) they can cite: King Vittorio Emanuele of Italy; Amedeo of Savoia Aosta King of Spain; President U.S. Grant of the United States of America; King Leopoldo of Belgium; Emperor Federico Guglielmo of Germany; Emperor Dom Pedro 2nd of Brazil; the Sultan of Zanzibar; "Nababbo" of Jyderabab. And still: Marconi, Manzoni, Carducci, D'annunzio, Zolà; Tolstoj; Anatole France; Wagner; Mascagni; Riccardo Strauss; Caruso; Toscanini; Giordano; Tamara de Lempicka; Mussolini; Cornelius Vanderbilt; Rotschild; Prince Metternich; Eleonora Duse; the Duke and Duchess of Windsor; Magritte; De Chirico; Medardo Rosso; De Sica; Nureyev; Guttuso; Fellini; Maria Callas...

There are suites in the hotel dedicated to important personalities such as Giuseppe Verdi, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Eleonora Duse, Giacomo Puccini, Umberto Giordano and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, in which original documents and photos witness their stay at the hotel.

Rooms and Suites

All the rooms and suites are furnished with antique pieces of furniture, accurately restored, and have precious wooden floors. The spacious en suite bathrooms have been renovated using precious Italian marbles.

Restaurants

CARUSO
So called in memory of the great tenor's stay at the Grand Hotel, who in one of our rooms, under Ricordi Records Company commission, recorded the world's first flat matrix record. The Caruso Restaurant is ideal for a swift business lunches or gastronomical, lunch time meetings. It has a luminous environment, where the greenery of the neighbouring Piazzetta Croce Rossa creates an atmosphere of an ideal "winter garden".

DON CARLOS
The Restaurant takes its name from Verdi's Opera. The Maestro lived for more than 30 years at the Grand Hotel et de Milan. It is a very intimate Restaurant, ideal for the evenings, with a typical regional cuisine, staying open throughout the evenings also for after theatre suppers. The Restaurant has a separate entrance from Vicolo Manzoni, alongside the hotel. The atmosphere is warm and the lights are dimmed. The walls are adorned with paintings, prints, photographs, programmes and scenes from the La Scala Theatre Museum.

BAR FALSTAFF
Ideal for a quick lunch or an aperitif.

FIREPLACE HALL
Rafinate thea room.

Meeting rooms

The somptuous lounges of the Hotel are available to accomodate business meetings, conferences, exhibitions, cocktail parties and receptions. The introduction of modern technology has not altered the typically 19th century aristocratic palace atmosphere of the Grand Hotel et de Milan.

Puccini Room Decorated with paintings of great value coming from Maria Luigia of Austria's collection, Fiamminghi tapeastries and splendid Murano lamps, represents a typical example of refined elegance and luminous 8th century architecture.
Giordano Room Separated from the Puccini Room by a spacious corridor, is decorated with beautiful papier peintre; it offers a welcoming and intimate environment, typical of buildings of old Milan.

The Puccini and Giordano Rooms are ideal for high level meetings, show case, receptions and fashion shows.
