What to do when you invite someone round, how to set the table, how to arrange the seating.
A few simple rules for you to remember.
If there are no more than twenty guests, then the invitation should be made by telephone at least ten days before. If, on the other hand, the number of guests is higher than this (even if only just greater) then business cards should be used.
These invitations to the cocktail events are very elastic. They allow people to take up the invitation, or not to, as well as to stay for as long or as little as they wish. Obviously those who do not take up the invitation should indicate the reasons for having missed the occasion.
The cocktail is served in a lounge, the centre of which is cleared of any tables or chairs. At cocktail parties, sitting is not really acceptable, instead, you should intermingle with the various groups.
The buffet is laid out in the dining room where various canapés, kebabs, pizzas, titbits and snacks in general should be arranged on a table that is covered by an elegant tablecloth. Drinks are offered by a waiter who circles the room with a tray of full glasses.
The guests may choose from two alcoholic drinks: champagne or dry white wine, or between two non-alcoholic drinks: tomato juice or grapefruit
juice.

| A bottle of Carpano
(prepared by shaker with Campari and two twists of
orange) |
| A bottle of Campari
|

| A bottle of vodka |
| A bottle of cognac |
| A bottle of gin |

(it should be served with ice and lemon juice) |
| The fridge should also contain a few bottles of tomato
juice, grapefruit or pineapple juice which will be served towards the end of the
event. It should also hold a few bottles of sparkling and still water. |
