The architecture of the village is a harmonious blend of rustic dwellings, the previous functions of which have been revalued and redesigned in full respect of the features conveyed over the centuries, and certain antique structures that had been either destroyed of modified over the years have been revived. This old settlement dating back to the sixteenth century, but its original centre probably originated halfway through the fourteenth century, when it belonged to the Order of St. Stephen. It could very well have been a stopping point or landmark for religious orders or pilgrims travelling along the route to Chiusi, Castiglion del Lago and Arezzo.

The Relais " Alla Corte del Sole" thanks to its particular structure and its various facets in terms of hospitality can accomodate up to 40 guests; having 19 rooms divided in Classic, Delux, Junior suite and Suite. Each room are equipped with every comfort and furnished with period furniture. Here and there, some precious details such as a fine painting, a canopied or wrought iron bed, drape curtains and soft fabrics, small armchairs and dressing tables.

Cuisine

A real event for the guest is the appoinment with the kitchen of this residence. Even better for the guests; considering the particularity of the menu, the restaurant can only welcome groups of the people. The execution is trusted to the chefs of Tonino's Restaurant of Cortona, whose experience and well known reputation are an assurance of good taste and refinement. 

Breakfast

In a tasteful furnished dining-room, in old Tuscany style, in a warm atmosphere, our organisation offers to one’s custom a special Italian and international “buffet” breakfast, suitable to satisfy any requirement. It’s usually served from ..... to ....., but it’s possible to anticipate or postpone it according our customers wishes, to whom our staff becomes always available. 

The wine-cellar

During their stay our clients can haunt our “cantina”, in which they can taste or buy white and red wines, produced as well in our area as in the different Italian regions and enjoy our appetisers.

Guided Tours

The Residence makes available to his guests guides and transportation to give them the opportunity to visit cities and places of special interest at a close distance, like Cortona, with its Etruscan tombs, its museums, its alleys, Montepulciano, Castiglion del Lago, Siena, Montalcino, Pienza with their monuments, historical squares, charming views... 
Our hotel will offer to the customers the opportunity to enjoy their holidays giving them the possibility to contact our expert guide for daily excursions in Tuscany and Umbria. They are organised either for singles or couples or for small and big groups. If customers will arrive to our hotel by their own means of transport, the guide can step in their cars or bus, going around with them, showing, explaining and satisfying any request.

How to get there

To get to the Relais "Alla Corte del Sole" leaving from Milan or Rome. Take the A1 Autostrada and exit from the Valdichiana exit ramp; immediately turn right and take the "superstrada" for Perugia. Take the second exit for Cortona, then follow the signs for Montepulciano until you see the street signs for Petrignano, pass the town and after a short time you will see the Relais on your left.
