Cergallina is a recently renovated farmhouse situated in the foothills of the Tuscan Emilian Alps, at 500 meters above sea level. We enjoy a very pleasant climate all year round, hot in summer but with cool evening breezes and sunny in winter, being above the fog that often covers the Po valley. The rest of the year is very nice too; beautifully green in spring time, when the hillsides are covered in wildflowers and the poppies invade the wheatfields... Autumn offers a fantastic array of colours, and riding or walking through the hills at this time of year is a wonderful experience. We look forward to welcoming you at Cergallina!

The farmhouse consists of 11 bedrooms, nine with private facilities and two with shared facilities. A large loungeroom with an open fireplace is a great place to relax and read a book, or enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire. The kitchen is a typical farmhouse kitchen with a wood fired oven and a large wooden table that seats up to 14 guests.

We have restored the old barn and this is now our restaurant area. Here we have huge glass windows overlooking the surrounding valleys and the Stirone River, which forms the border between the provinces of Parma and Piacenza. In summer, we can eat outside on the terrace.

At Azienda Agrituristica Cergallina we pride ourselves on the quality of our food; homegrown organic vegetables from our garden, wine from our vineyard, fresh farm eggs to make homemade pasta. We raise rabbits, chickens, ducks and geese who live a wonderful life before finishing up in the pot! Our style of food is typical Piacentino country cooking.

The area around Cergallina is great for horseriding and excursions by mountain bike. Of course most summer days are spent relaxing around the pool (reserved for our in-house guests only). For those who wish to immerse themselves in local history, then the nearby castle towns of Vigoleno and Castell'Arquato area great places to visit. Both towns date back to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and are beautifully restored to their original grandeur. Not far distant are the Roman ruins of Velleja, as well as the walled town of Fontanellato.

Parma and Modena are near enough for a day visit, and a trip to Milan for shopping can be done easily in a day, as it is just a 90 min. drive or train ride from Cergallina. We suggest that our guests hire a car from the nearest large city, (although we can organize taxi transfers from Fiorenzuola, which is the nearest railway station).

Bring your fourfooted friends with you. We have 12 very spacious stalls and an arena for working out. Your horse will enjoy his Cergallina hay as much as you enjoy our specialities. And both of you will have a fabulous time following our trails though woods, up and down hills, in and out of riverbeds, with a stop in a tiny village or a historic castle, as you choose.
